The History Department is delighted to announce that the University of Illinois and the State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board have approved History Department sponsored revisions to the History/Social Science secondary education curriculum.
The revised curriculum will formally go on the books in Fall 2020. The curriculum will provide current and future students with increased flexibility in navigating degree requirements. This increased flexibility will enable students to take fuller advantage of transformative and experiential learning opportunities such as internships and study abroad, and to seek additional teaching endorsements in fields such as Economics, Psychology, Political Science, and foreign languages.
Illinois has long been committed to educating exceptional teachers, and these curricular changes will further that mission, helping to meet the need for highly qualified Social Studies teachers in Illinois and other states.
