Over the summer, Spenser interned at the Chicago Public Library's Special Collections and Preservation Division. He helped with collections processing, digitization, and other projects as assigned by the librarians and archivists.

Among other things, he catalogued a series of World War II-era posters, scanned mid-century photos of Chicago neighborhoods, and learned to make safe housings for fragile books. Additionally, Spenser assisted the Special Collections and Preservation Division’s community outreach programs.
