Senior Spotlight: Rachel Danna Mulick (BA'25, history and Spanish)

Research Interests

Rachel co-authored a digital edition published by SourceLab and presented her work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. Her publication, co-authored with Summer Matthes and Jordan Wilkerson, is titled "The Great Depression and the New Deal: A Newsletter From A Camp of Homeless Men," SourceLab 4, no. 2 (2023).

Internship Involvement

Rachel served as an intern at the Champaign County History Museum in Fall 2022, and since Spring 2023, she has worked as the Laible Undergraduate Intern in the University of Illinois Library Conservation Lab. She has also held two positions at the Newberry Library in Chicago: as a Library Assistant during the summers of 2023 and 2024, and as a Conservation Services Intern in Winter 2024.

Recognition and awards

Rachel is a James Scholar and was awarded the University Library Outstanding Undergraduate Student Worker Award for 2024–2025. In 2023–2024, she received the Breymann Scholarship for Outstanding History Majors. Earlier in her academic career, she was honored with the Adele M. Suslick Award for Excellence in Historical Research by the Champaign County History Museum in 2022.

Plans after college

She plans to pursue a Master's in Library Science at the University of Illinois.
