In a recent issue of Perspectives, the monthly publication of the American Historical Association, Emily Skidmore (PhD, 2011), was quote extensively in an article on the rise of trans history as a field of study. The author of True Sex: The Lives of Trans Men at the Turn of the 20th Century (NYU Press, 2017), Skidmore explains that “Even though the term transgender is modern, people have moved from one gender to another for a very long time.
