Robert W. Johannsen Scholarship for Promising Senior Honors Thesis Research

This scholarship is awarded annually to an Honors student with junior standing, for the support of work on a senior thesis, especially in the field of United States history.   Scholarship money will be paid in the summer before the student’s senior year, to help support research on the thesis.

Applications for the scholarship must be addressed to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Professor James Barrett (jbrennan@illinois.edu).  Each must include a brief description of the proposed thesis, its significance, and its contribution to historical scholarship.  Besides the letter of application, the student must submit a letter of recommendation from a member of the History faculty.

The student who is selected to receive the scholarship will be known as the Robert W. Johannsen Scholar.  The student’s honors thesis will also carry this designation.
