C. Ernest Dawn Undergraduate Research Travel Award

Travel awards and grants of up to $500 are available to students who can demonstrate that their original research would be significantly enhanced or facilitated by travel to an archive, museum, library, or conference; and/or whose projects require specialized equipment or access to online databases, printed materials, or other sources not available on campus or through our own library.

Applications should be addressed to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Jim Brennan (jbrennan@illinois.edu). Your application should consist of a brief (one to two page) description of the overall research project, its significance, and its contribution to historical scholarship. You should also describe the particular research you plan to conduct with the C. Ernest Dawn travel award funds and submit a budget that explains how you will use the funds.  Finally, you should ask the faculty member who is guiding your research to send a reference letter to Professor Brennan.
