Courtney Pierre Cain is a doctoral candidate in the History department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As the youngest daughter of Haitian immigrants, education has always been very important. Therefore, after completing her bachelors in history at Illinois in 2008, she returned to pursue her doctorate in 2010.

Research Description

Her dissertation, entitled "DuSable's Diaspora: Haitians in Chicago, 1935-2010" looks at the long term unique connections between Haiti and Chicago and the formation of a Haitian diaspora in Chicago during the 20th century.
